Belarus-Ethiopia
Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Belarus and the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia were established on May 18, 1994.
From 2014 to 2018, the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus operated in Addis Ababa, which was closed as part of the reform of the diplomatic presence scheme abroad. In order to maintain a presence in the East African region, the Embassy was moved to Kenya with the accreditation of the Ambassador to Ethiopia in concurrency.
The Ambassador of Belarus to Kenya is accredited to Ethiopia concurrently. On January 15, 2026, Ambassador D.A. Krasouski presented his credentials to the President of Ethiopia T. Atske-Selassie.
The interests of Ethiopia in Belarus are represented by the Embassy of Ethiopia in Russia. Since November 2024, the Ambassador of Ethiopia to Russia is Genet Teshome Jirrou.

On September 25, 2025, a meeting was held between the President of the Republic of Belarus A.G. Lukashenko with Ethiopian Prime Minister A.Ahmed on the sidelines of the Global Atomic Energy Forum in Moscow.
On October 23, 2024, President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko met with Ethiopian Prime Minister Ahmed Ahmed on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit in Kazan.
In 2014, Deputy Foreign Minister of Belarus V.B. Rybakov visited Ethiopia, the first round of consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Belarus and Ethiopia was held, as well as a business forum hosted by the Ethiopian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
In February 2021, Chairman of the Central Council of the Republican State-Public Association “Presidential Sports Club” D.A. Lukashenko paid a working visit to Ethiopia.
In April 2022, a delegation of Belarusian defense sector organizations, led by Chairman of the State Military Industrial Committee D.A. Pantus, visited Ethiopia.
In October 2022, a visit of the Belarusian business delegation to Ethiopia was organized, within the framework of which a business forum was held. Meetings were held with the State Minister of Trade and Regional Development and the State Minister of Education of Ethiopia.
The Honorary Consul of Ethiopia in Belarus is the Chairman of the Central Council of the Republican State-Public Association “Presidential Sports Club” D.A. Lukashenko (appointed in January 2023), and the Honorary Consul of Belarus in Ethiopia is Ethiopian businessman Dawit Zeude Haile-Selassie (appointed in May 2021).
On May 23, 2024, the Office of the Honorary Consul of Ethiopia in Belarus was officially opened in Minsk. Visits of the Honorary Consul of Ethiopia to Belarus D.A. Lukashenko took place to Ethiopia in May 2023, February and April 2024.
Honorary Consul of Belarus in Ethiopia D.Selassie visited Belarus in September 2024. He met with First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs S. Lukashevich. For his significant contribution to the development of Belarusian-Ethiopian relations, D. Selassie was awarded the honorary badge «100 Years of the Diplomatic Service of Belarus».
On June 11, 2024, a meeting was held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia T. Sellasie on the sidelines of BRICS in Nizhny Novgorod.
On April 13-15, 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus M. Ryzhenkov paid an official visit to Ethiopia.
On July 29, 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia Gedion Timothyewos paid a working visit to the Republic of Belarus.
In January 2026, an official visit of the delegation of the State Military Industrial Committee of Belarus, headed by Chairman D.A. Pantus, took place to Ethiopia, and a memorandum and a roadmap for 2025-2030 on military-technical cooperation were signed.
