Ambassador of Belarus Pavel Vziatkin holds a meeting with UN-Habitat Executive Director

April 13, 2021, Pavel Vziatkin, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Republic of Kenya and Permanent Representative to UN-Habitat, held an online meeting with Maimunah Mohd Sharif, Executive-Director of UN-Habitat.
The Permanent Representative (PR) stressed the important role played by UN-Habitat in integration of “green” technologies in urban infrastructure and the achievement of sustainable development goals. The PR noted that at the moment the Republic of Belarus has launched a number of projects to create “smart cities”, such as Grodno Green Polis and Brest Simbio-City, and counts on the support of UN-Habitat in their successful implementation.
In turn, Executive Director Sharif noted that the creation of “smart cities” is one of the priorities of UN-Habitat. Ms. Sharif expressed the readiness to provide the necessary assistance in implementation of joint plans and appointed responsible UN-Habitat officers. Executive Director invited the Belarusian side to take part in the World Urban Forum 2022.
