Ambassador Pavel Vziatkin participates in the 158th meeting of the UNEP Committee of Permanent Representatives

May 26, 2022 Ambassador of Belarus to Kenya / Permanent Representative of the Republic of Belarus to UNEP Pavel Vziatkin took part in the 158th meeting of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Committee of Permanent Representatives, which was held at the UN Headquarters in Nairobi.

During the meeting the Ambassador addressed the issue of the construction by Poland of the fence on the Polish-Belarusian border, including the territory of the Belovezhskaya Pushcha National Park, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Diplomat informed about the negative consequences of these actions of the Polish side for the ecosystem and biodiversity of the region and expressed his appeal to UNEP to be more actively involved in addressing this issue.
